Sodium chlorite

Sodium chlorite ( NaClO 2 ) is an inorganic chemical compound belonging to the chlorite group. Its main application is the production of an aqueous solution of ClO2 produced by the reaction of sodium chlorite with hydrochloric acid. The resulting chlorine dioxide is a strong disinfectant compound, especially often used to combat Legionella and E. coli bacteria. Sodium chlorite has fungicidal, virucidal and bactericidal properties , so it is widely used for purifying and disinfecting drinking and utility water, as well as for disinfecting water in technological processes, swimming pools and water parks, i.e. wherever it is necessary to obtain disinfected water.
